Buttermilk pancake iced latte

I love a coffee that tastes like dessert, but this one might be one of my favorites yet.

This Buttermilk Pancake Iced Latte tastes like warm, buttery pancakes with maple syrup — except it’s iced, caffeinated, and takes about two minutes to make.

The little combo of brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, maple syrup, vanilla, salt, and butter gives the espresso that sweet, buttery pancake flavor, and then we’re topping the whole thing with a fluffy maple cream.

Basically, if you’re the person who orders pancakes specifically because you want to drown them in maple syrup, make this.

What You’ll Need

Iced Latte

  • 2 shots espresso
  • ½ tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ tsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp vanilla bean paste
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ tbsp butter
  • Ice

Maple Cream

  • 4 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tbsp maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt

How to Make a Buttermilk Pancake Iced Latte

Make the pancake-inspired base.
Add the brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, maple syrup, vanilla bean paste, salt, and butter to a glass.

Add the espresso.
Pull two shots of espresso and pour them into the glass. Stir really well until everything is combined and the butter has melted into the warm espresso mixture.

Add ice.
Fill the glass with ice.

Make the maple cream.
Add the heavy cream, milk, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt to a frother or jar. Froth until light and creamy.

Top it off.
Pour the maple cream over the iced latte.

Give it a little stir, take a sip, and prepare to wonder why your coffee suddenly tastes like pancakes.

Tips

  • Don’t skip the salt: That tiny pinch helps balance all the sweetness and makes the maple flavor pop.
  • Use good maple syrup: Since it’s one of the main flavors here, the real stuff makes a difference.
  • Froth the maple cream well: You want it fluffy enough to sit right on top of the iced latte.
  • Want it extra pancake-y? Add another tiny drizzle of maple syrup over the cream before drinking.

I’m not saying you need to replace your weekend pancake stack with this, but I’m also not not saying that.

It has all my favorite pancake things — buttery, sweet, maple-y, vanilla-y — but in iced coffee form. And honestly, that might be even better.
