Split Pea Soup With Ham
What a cozy dinner! The weather in San Diego the last two days has me craving soup and I rarely ever crave soup. Soup vibes coming in hot and I’m here for it.
Split Pea Soup With Ham:
- 2 cups dried split eas
- 4 celery stalks, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups chopped carrots
- 4 + 1/2 cups broth, vegetable or chicken
- 2 cups diced ham
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp garlic
Instructions:
- Start by dicing and chopping the celery, onion, carrots and ham. Set aside.
- Turn Instant Pot to sauté and wait until it reads “Hot”
- Add butter/ghee and garlic to Instant Pot and sauté. Then add the onion and sauté for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Toss in the ham cubes and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Then turn the Instant Pot off.
- Add the broth and deglaze bottom of pot if needed. Then you’ll add the diced carrots, and celery, split peas, and pepper to taste.
- Close lid and set to manual for 15 minutes. Quick release pressure and open lid.
- Begin to stir! The peas will break down and form a thick soup. The more you stir the smoother the soup will become. I enjoy soups thick and creamy!
- Serve with a dollop of greek yogurt, cilantro, and red chili flakes on top. you wont regret it, trust me!Let me know if you make this, can’t wait to hear what y’all think.
