Healthy Shamrock Shake

Every year around St. Patrick’s Day the Shamrock Shake nostalgia hits. It’s one of those drinks that instantly brings you back to childhood — bright green, minty, creamy, and a little festive.

But the classic version is mostly sugar, artificial coloring, and ingredients I can’t pronounce. So naturally, I made my own version that keeps the fun but uses ingredients that actually make you feel good.

This Healthy Shamrock Shake is naturally sweetened with dates and banana, packed with protein, and gets its bright green color from spinach (don’t worry — you truly can’t taste it). It’s creamy, minty, and honestly filling enough to work as a breakfast or snack.

My kids think it’s a milkshake… and I’m happy letting them believe that.

Why You’ll Love This Version

  • Naturally sweetened with banana and dates

  • Bright green from spinach instead of food dye

  • Packed with protein and nutrients

  • Creamy, minty, and totally festive

  • Takes 2 minutes in a blender

It’s the kind of recipe that feels like a treat but secretly doubles as a nourishing smoothie.

Healthy Shamrock Shake

Ingredients

  • ½ banana

  • 1 cup spinach

  • 1-2 dates, pitted, omit for lower sugar option

  • ¼ cup cottage cheese

  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 scoop ARMRA colostrum

  • ½ cup milk of choice

  • 1 cup ice

  • 1 scoop Truvani Chocolate Mint Protein Powder

  • optional 1 tsp matcha powder

Toppings (Optional but Fun)

  • Coconut whipped cream

  • Simple Mills chocolate & cashew butter cookies, crumbled OR back to nature better-for-you Oreos

  • Homemade coconut whipped cream to garnish the inside of the glass

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender:

    • banana

    • spinach

    • dates

    • cottage cheese

    • avocado
    • ARMRA

    • milk

    • ice

    • chocolate mint protein powder

    • optional matcha powder
  2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.

  3. If you want to make it extra festive, spread coconut whipped cream or thick yogurt around the inside of the glass before pouring the shake in.

  4. Pour into your glass and top with:

    • coconut whipped cream

    • crumbled better-for-you oreo

  5. Sip and enjoy your healthy Shamrock Shake moment.

Why Cottage Cheese?

Cottage cheese might sound surprising in a shake, but it’s one of my favorite smoothie hacks. It adds extra protein and creaminess without making the shake heavy, and once blended you won’t taste it at all.

A Little St. Patrick’s Day Fun

The bright green color comes from spinach, which means you get all the festive vibes without artificial dyes. The banana, dates, and chocolate mint protein powder create that classic minty milkshake flavor — just with ingredients that actually fuel your body.

Basically: a Shamrock Shake you can enjoy any time of day.
