Earl Grey Matcha
If you love a cozy London Fog and a refreshing matcha, this drink is the perfect blend of both. This Earl Grey Cold Whisked Matcha is smooth, lightly floral, and incredibly creamy — all made without heating milk.

It’s whisked cold, slightly sweet, and has that subtle bergamot flavor from the homemade Earl Grey syrup. Honestly, it feels like something you’d order at a specialty café… but it’s so easy to make at home.
I love making this in my favorite travel setup using the plastic alternative to-go cups.
Why You’ll Love This
- Floral, cozy Earl Grey + matcha combo
- Cold whisked (no frother needed)
- Lightly sweet and super smooth
- Perfect for at-home café drinks
- Great for travel or on-the-go
Earl Grey Cold Whisked Matcha
Ingredients
- 2 tsp matcha
- Earl Grey syrup (recipe below)
- ~200 ml milk of choice (I love homemade cashew milk)
Earl Grey Syrup
- 4 Earl Grey tea bags
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup classic monkfruit sweetener
- 1 cup water
Instructions
1. Make the Earl Grey Syrup
Soak the tea bags in ½ cup hot water for 10 minutes.
Remove tea bags, then add the brewed tea to a small saucepan with:
- monkfruit sweetener
- 1 cup water
Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, until slightly thickened.
Let cool before using. Store in the fridge.
2. Cold Whisk the Matcha
Add matcha and 1–2 tablespoons Earl Grey syrup to your cup.
Pour in half of the milk and whisk until smooth and fully combined.
3. Finish the Drink
Add the remaining milk and stir.
Taste and adjust sweetness with more syrup if desired.
My Tips
- Add milk in two parts for the smoothest texture
- Use ceremonial or high-quality culinary matcha
- Homemade cashew milk makes this extra creamy
- Shake with ice if you want it extra chilled
What It Tastes Like
Lightly floral, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The Earl Grey adds a soft bergamot note that pairs beautifully with the earthy matcha.
It’s cozy, refreshing, and a little elevated — all at the same time.
Your At-Home Café Moment
This is one of those drinks that feels fancy but takes just a few minutes. Perfect for slow mornings, afternoon pick-me-ups, or a cute travel cup moment on the go.
Once you try Earl Grey + matcha together… it’s hard to go back.
