Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Matcha

There are a few things I only buy once a year, and a small box of Lucky Charms is one of them.

Normally our pantry leans pretty simple ingredient-focused around here, but every year when the St. Patrick’s Day decorations come out, I grab a tiny box for a little nostalgia moment. And instead of just pouring a bowl, I like to turn it into something a little more fun: Lucky Charms cereal milk matcha.

It’s creamy, lightly sweet, a little nostalgic, and honestly so cute. The cereal milk gives the matcha a subtle marshmallow-vanilla flavor that feels festive without being over-the-top sweet.

Think of it as a fun seasonal treat matcha — the kind you make once or twice, enjoy every sip, and then go back to your regular matcha routine.

Why This Matcha Is So Fun

  • A nostalgic cereal milk twist

  • Naturally creamy and lightly sweet

  • Festive for St. Patrick’s Day

  • Takes just 5 minutes to make

  • Perfect afternoon pick-me-up

And if you’ve never had cereal milk before, it’s exactly what it sounds like: milk steeped with cereal so it absorbs all that flavor.

Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Matcha

Yield: 1 drink

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lucky Charms cereal

  • 1 cup milk of choice (I used homemade cashew milk)

  • 1 cup ice

  • 1½ tsp matcha powder

  • ¼ cup water

  • Small handful Lucky Charms marshmallows (optional garnish)

Instructions

1. Make the Lucky Charms Milk

Add the Lucky Charms cereal and milk to a cup. Let it soak for about 5 minutes, or until the milk turns a light blue-green color.

For a stronger cereal flavor, you can steep the cereal milk for a couple of hours or even overnight.

2. Whisk the Matcha

Sift the matcha powder into a bowl. Add the water and whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk for 10–15 seconds until foamy.

Whisk in a zig-zag or “M” motion to create a smooth, frothy matcha.

3. Strain the Cereal

Once the milk has finished steeping, strain out the cereal and marshmallows so you’re left with the flavored milk.

4. Assemble the Drink

Fill a glass with ice and pour in the Lucky Charms cereal milk. Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the top.

5. Garnish & Enjoy

Top with a few Lucky Charms marshmallows for a festive touch.

Give it a quick stir before sipping and enjoy!

Tips

Use a creamy milk.
Cashew milk, oat milk, or whole milk work best for the creamiest texture.

Don’t skip sifting the matcha.
It prevents clumps and gives you a smoother drink.

Save the marshmallows.
They make the cutest garnish.

This is one of those drinks that feels a little silly in the best way. A tiny bit nostalgic, a little festive, and just fun to make.

And honestly, sometimes that’s reason enough.
